This issue of ETJ contains the papers presented in the seminar which was titled, “Challenges of Institutionalization: Rethinking Evangelization.” Three papers were presented in the Seminar. The fi rst paper was presented by Dr. George Kudilil of ETC and his topic was, “Mission approaches in Evangelizing Process.” In the second paper, Dr. Jose Maria Das OIC of DVK, Bengaluru, tried to answer the question, “Institutionalization paralyses Evangelization?” Dr. Sylvester Jerome IMS of Varanasi discussed the theme, “Khristbhakta Movement as a Model of Evangelization.” All these three papers are published in the following pages.
The Inaugural Address was given by Mar Joseph Kodakallil, Chiarman, Synodal Commission for ETC and Bishop of Satna and the Keynote Address was delivered by Most Rev. Dr. Raphy Manjaly, Bishop of Allahabad and Chairman, Commission for Evangelization of CCBI. Dr. C.A. Varghese, Vicar General of the Delhi Diocese of the Marthoma Syrian Church gave the concluding message.
In the present issue there are two more articles which explore further aspects of evangelization, particularly relevant in the Indian context. Dr Sajan George Thengumpally discusses “Migration as a Tool of evangelization” and Dr. Jerome Paul Puthukulangara writes about “Mission as a Concern of the Church in the Code of Canons of the Eastern Church.” Since this year marks the Quincentenary
of Reformation we have included a review article of a new biography of Luther.
There are a few more book reviews.
